"Bud" Phillips, 81, 373 Pompey Hill Road, Stoystown (Kimmelton), went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 30, 2004, at Somerset Hospital. Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Kimmelton son of Alfred and Marian (Shaffer) Phillips. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Floyd; sisters, Dorothy, and Hazel and son-in-law, Dana Keith Sr. Survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Jean Bowers; daughters: Nancy, married to Wayne Glover, and Connie, married to Terry Swank, both of Stoystown, and Cathy Keith, Somerset; grandchildren: Brian and Greg Glover, Rhonda Stout, Dana Keith Jr., Melissa Gardner, Christy Reed and Tonia Swank and 16 great-grandchildren. Brother of Betty Beal, Somerset and Alfred "Nun" Phillips Jr., Stoystown. He was a World War II Army veteran where he proudly served on the front-line as a seargent with the 88th Infantry Division. He was a former coal miner and a former employee of Mayfair Creamery and Somerset MHMR. Member of Mostoller United Methodist Church where he was a former trustee, Sunday school teacher, administrative board member and financial secretary. Member of Stoystown American Legion Post 257, and UMWA local 1742. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be sadly missed. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mostoller United Methodist Church. The Rev. Thomas V. Chacko, and Rev. Samuel J. Weible officiating. Interment church cemetery.
