  Melvin A. Phillips, 64, of Somerset RD 3, died Sept. 21, 1996, at
  Somerset Hospital.  Born Dec. 12, 1931, in Clearfield. Son of the late
  Earl and Laura (Kephart) Phillips.  Survived by wife of 35 years, the
  former Jessie Loughner; children: Mrs. Dennis (Darlene) Harvey,
  Garrett; Craig, married to former Sandra Shaffer, Meyersdale RD 4;
  Keith, married to former Rhonda Gindlesperger, Somerset RD 3; Melvin
  Jr., Harrisburg; Robert, of Gray; Mrs. Donald (Karen) Lynch,
  Friedens; stepdaughters: Mrs. Ivan (Susie) Hood, New Florence, and
  Mrs. Jon (Karen) Hummel, Blairsville; 17 grandchildren. 5
  great-grandchildren. Brother of George Templeton, Niagara Falls,
  N.Y.; Connie Wisor, Clearfield; Marlene Murray, Lewistown, and
  Theoria Smeal, Irvona.  Retired after 26 years with PBS Coals.  Member
  of Somerset County Beagle Club.  Family will receive friends from 2 to
  4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service
  will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Roger L. Forry.  Interment, Edie
  Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be given to In Touch Hospice,
  651 S. Center Ave., Somerset, PA 15501.
