Born July 16, 1884, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, daughter of R.F. and Polly (Speigle) Hammer. Preceded in death by parents; husband, I.G., who died April 14, 1963; brother, P.M. Hammer, who died in 1983; niece, Frieda Belle Bodensky, who died in 1979; and nephew, Paul Hammer, who died in 1974. Suryiyed by niece, Mary C. Hammer, Boswell RD 1; two great-nieces, Peggy Hammer, Pittsburgh, and Belle Smith, Somerset; great-great-nephew, Jason Hammer; and great-great-niece, Shannon Smith. Long-time member of Jenner Township Baptist Church and former Silyer Ray Rebekah Lodge, Boswell, where she was past Noble Grand. Also member of Wimodausis Rebekah Lodge No. 217, Somerset. Graduate of former Indiana Normal School, Indiana, Pa. Formerly taught in Jenner Township Schools. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Holtman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell, where service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Donald Speigle.
