Pierce Sr., 75, of 3010 Twin Oaks Driye, Joliet, Ill. died Dec. 22, 1993 at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Joliet. Born Aug. 31, 1918 in Winnebago, Wis. Son of Clara E. (Saeger) Pierce and the late William D. Pierce. Also preceded in death by infant son and infant grandson Peter D. Pierce Jr. Survived by his wife, the former Janice Maxine Zimmerman, sons: Dr. William L. (Dianne) Pierce Jr., Champaign, Ill.; Bradley Z. (Marilyn) Pierce, Elwood, Ill., and Peter D. Pierce of Streator, Ill. Also seven grandchildren. Brother of Ned D. Pierce, Patricia Pierce, Corinne Kratz and Nancy Heibel and numerous nieces and nephews. He was retired lieutenant colonel in U.S. Army with 21 years service in 1962, serving in W.W. II and Korea. Following employment with Joliet Arsenal, retiring in 1981 in Wunderlich Door Company. Member and past elder of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Joliet. Family will receiye friends from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, Revs. Gregory R. Pile and Thomas H. Zimmerman. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Graveside military rites by Menoher Post 155 VFW.
