Pifer, 43, of South Edgewood Avenue, Somerset, died March 9, 1973, in Somerset Community Hospital. He was born in Somerset on July 16, 1929, a son of Russell A. and the late Marian (Hay) Pifer. Also surviving are his wife, Alice (Leoon) Pifer, two sons, Mark and Gregg, both of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., a brother and two sisters: the Rev. Lester Pifer of Grayson, Ky; Mrs. Alfred Wilmoth and Mrs. Glenn Pyle, both of Somerset. Member of the First Christian Church, Somerset, VFW, graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and veteran of the Korean War. At the request of the deceased, his body was donated to the University of Pittsburgh, his alma mater, for medical research. Arrangements in charge of Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home.
