Born March 3, 1955, in Springdale, Ark., the son of Alfred Eugene Pile and Betty Jean Claycomb of Somerset. Survived by wife, the former Janice Eileen Berkey, to whom he was married 22 years; son, Christopher C. Pile and fiancee, Sheena Mostoller, Somerset; stepson, Jason and friend, Amber, Stoystown; brother, William Pile and wife, Bonnie, Hooversville; sister, Sharon Custer, Cairnbrook; and six nieces and nephews. A 1973 graduate of Somerset High School and a graduate of Beaver Community College in criminal justice. Worked as a police officer for Somerset Borough for 26 years and in law enforcement for 27 years total, retiring in June 2005. Member and past president of Fraternal Order of Police Roof Garden Lodge 98. He also was a former instructor for the Greater Johnstown Regional Police Academy. No viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Berlin Alliance Church, Berlin. The Rev. Sherman H. Berkey officiating.
