Pile, 64, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, Sept. 16, 1985, at University Hospital, Baltimore, Md. Born in Somerset, son of Russell M. and Ruth (Carver) Pile of Maugansville, Md. A member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, he served on the church council, was a member of the Luther Fellowship Class; charter member and past president of West Hagerstown Lions Club; member of the B.P.O.E., Lodge 378, Hagerstown; member of Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion, Hagerstown; Member of Eagles, Inc., Waynesboro, Pa.; member of Antietam Fire Co., Hagerstown. Co-owner of the Pile Septic Tank Service. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy L.; two sons, David R., Hagerstown, and Darrell L., Vandalia, Ill.; five sisters: Patricia Hillegas of Hagerstown, Md.; Dorothy Bittner of Gray; Kathryn Carter of Ferndale, Mich.; Thelma Miller of Friends, Pa.; and Jean Hittie, New Freedom, Pa.; three brothers: Cletus Pile, Greencastle, Pa.; William Pile, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Karl Pile of Hagerstown; also four grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, with the Rev. A. Bernard Coates officiating. Burial in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, Md. Wednesday 7-9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
