"Ephie" Pile, 92, of Somerset, died July 23, 1987, at The White Star Residence, Jennerstown. Born Jan. 12, 1895, in Coleman, Stonycreek Township, son of the late Cyrus Albert and Julie (Hoffman) Pile. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Thelma Marie Little in 1983; also four sisters: Lydia Hensel, Eva Shaver, Marian Hensel, Sidney Simpson; three brothers: George Lester and Park. Survived by these children: Mrs. Robert C. (Virginia) Ludy, Somerset; and Chester A. "Jack" Pile of California, Md.; two granddaughters, Deborah Jo Younkins, Hollywood, Md.; and Cherry Kay Bierer, Brentwood, Pittsburgh. Retired employee of the former IXL Creamery with 49 years service. Veteran of World War I, serving in U.S. Army 16th Infantry, First Division. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church. Life member of VFW Post 554 and life member of American Legion Post 181. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (today) at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. James Ling officiating.
