Born Oct. 30, 1908 in Friedens, son of the late Ross Ira and Lucy Alice (Hensel) Pile. Also preceded in death by first wife, Mary Irene (Shaffer) Pile who died Aug. 8. 1978 and three brothers: Leo, Wilbur, and Eugene Pile. Survived by second wife Pearl (Bottomley) Pile, Lewistown, and these children: Mrs. J. Frank (Julianne) Hetherington, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Mrs. Robert J. (Susan) Kovack, Somerset, four grandchildren: Michelle, and Melissa Kovack, and Robert and Anne Hetherington and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Paul W. (Althea) Lutz, Somerset, Mrs. Louella Shaffer, Friedens RD 1, Roy I. "Pookey" Pile, Friedens RD 2 and Robert R. Pile, Friedens RD 1. Former owner of the Old Farm Drive In Restaurant and the Coffee Springs Farm in Somerset. Graduate of Pennsylvania State University and World War II Veteran of U.S. Navy. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church and member of Lodge #358, F & AM, Altoona Consistory, Jaffa Shrine, VFW Post #554, Somerset Rotary Club, BPO Elks Lodge #1951 of Meyersdale. He served 14 years as Somerset Borough Councilman, and 10 years on Somerset Municipal Authority. No viewing or visitation. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home with the Rev. James R. Ling officiating. Interment, Husband Cemetery.
