Piper, 70, of RD 1, Cumberland, Md., died Saturday, April 9, 1988 in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born in Neffsville, Dec. 10, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Sadie (DeVore) Lowery. She had attended the Palo Alto United Methodist Church, and was a member of the AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Piper, on May 31, 1981. She is survived by two sons, Luther E. Piper, Homewood Addition, and Johnny R. Piper, Hyndman RD 1; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Clites, Cumberland, Md.; and Ms. Barbara J. Piper, at home; four brothers, Marshall Lowery, Charles Town, Ind, Carl Lowery, Cumberland, Md.; Eugene Lowery, Sheltersburg, Ind., Merle Lowery, Corriganville, Md.; six sisters, Mrs. Rosella Burley, Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Betty Piper, Corriganville, Md.; Mrs. Mary Dawson, LeGore KeyMar, Md., Mrs. Mildred Dawson, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Wilma Lease, Mount Savage, Md.; Mrs. Geneva Twigg, Barboursville, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home where services were conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating. Interment, Porter Cemetery, Ellerslie, Md.
