Born May 18, 1910, in Jerome, son of Charles (Vasil) Sr. and Barbara (Kmetz) Pipta. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, the former Helen Orzechowski; second wife, the former Ann B. (Stetz) Galiczynski; infant son and daughter; sisters: Ann McCune-Balinsky, Elizabeth Leskovich, Barbara Izzo, and Helen Pipta, and brothers: Michael and John. Survived by these children: Edward and wife Merry, Belleglades, Fla.; Felicia and husband J. Raymond Kuna, Spring Grove, Ill.; Laura and husband Chester Schaufel, with whom he resided; Richard, Somerset; Mark and wife Pamela, Gaithersburg, Md., and stepdaughter, Barbara (Galiczynski) and husband Nick Mastillo, Hollsopple RD; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and sisters: Mary Carpenter and Julia Bennett, both of Long Island, N.Y. Member and former trustee of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Jerome, where his father was one of the founders. Also member of UMWA. Retired area coal miner and also employed in heavy and building construction. Will be remembered for the unique package of gifts that the Lord bestowed on him, his sense of humor and the ability to relate to, people of all ages and walks of life. Will be sorely missed, but the family rejoices in his going home to be with the Lord he loved so much. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday. Christian burial, with divine liturgy, at 10 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter & Paul Church, the Rev. Father Daniel Loya, celebrant. Interment, church cemetery.
