Platt Sr., 88, Shanksville, died Jan. 18, 1987, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born May 1, 1898, in Berlin, son of Fred and Hannah (Johns) Platt. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Kathryn Fox; sisters: Rose Boyer, Emily May, Pauline Sanner and Eleanor Mitchell; and brother, the Rev. J. Wesley; and three brothers and sisters who died in infancy. Survived by these children: Robert C., married to Phyllis Jones, Somerset; C. Edward Jr., married to the former Patricia Shaffer, Shanksville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Brother of: Frank I., Sanford, Fla.; Henry and Mabel Hepler, both of Berlin; and Mrs. Earl (Ethel) Miller, Meyersdale RD 4. Retired insurance agent and Evergreen Nursery owner. Member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville, 58-year member of Meyersdale Lodge 554 F&AM, Harrisburg Scottish Rite Consistory, Shanksville Silver and Gold Senior Citizens, and a charter-member of Shanksville Rod and Gun Club. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Ralph E. Mills officiating.
