  Charles A. Platt, 71, of Berlin, died May 2, 1998 at Somerset
  Hospital.  Born Sept. 29, 1926 in Berlin, son of Henry S. and Goldie
  May (Fritz) Platt.  Preceded in death by parents, brother Donald and
  son Charles V.  Survived by his former wife, Delma (Seifert) Platt,
  and these children: James, married to the former Joan Gary of
  Rockwood; Robert, and Ruthanne, Married to Clinton Clark both of
  Berlin; Diane Lape of Pittsburgh; David, married to the former Julia
  Hudson of Eldon, Mo., and Sfc. Clair, married to the former Mary
  Brown, Italy; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Brother of:
  Henry S. Jr. of Texas; Kathryn Landis, Mary Bittner, Bernadine
  Glotfelty and Richard, all of Berlin, and James of Virginia.  A World
  War II Marine veteran.  Retired contractor.  Member of Berlin Brethren
  Church and Berlin American Legion.  Family will receive friends from
  2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service
  will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Sherman H. Berkey.  Interment,
  Downey Cemetery.
