  AUSTIN PLATTER 
  
  Austin Ray Platter, 94, of Grantsville, MD, died Friday, Feb. 5,
  1993, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland.  He was born on May 12,
  1898, in Jennings.  He was a son of the late Henry and Jemima
  (Handwerk) Platter.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rosa
  (Fresh) Platter, and a daughter, Olive Pauline Kerns.  Mr. Platter was
  a lifelong farmer with supplemental employment with the mining and
  lumber industries.  He was a member of Maple Grove Church of the
  Brethren.  Survivors include two sons: Claude Eldred Platter and
  Eillis Fay Platter, both of Grantsville, MD; two daughters: Rosalene
  June Platter and Alma Lois Platter, both of Grantsville; two
  brothers: Fenton Platter, of Fincastle, VA; Everett Platter,
  Grantsville; two sisters: Leafie Ohler, of Grantsville; Carrie
  Lowery, of Meyersdale; seven grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren and
  two great-great-grandchildren.  Friends were received in the Newman
  Funeral Home, Grantsville, where service was conducted on Sunday with
  the Rev: Joseph Lewis officiating.  Interment was in the Grantsville
  Cemetery.
