Her death was caused by a paralytic stroke. Mrs. Platter was a native of Lower Turkeyfoot Township, and was a daughter of the late Basil and Sophia Foust. In addition to her husband, Charles Platter, she is survived by five sons and three daughters, namely, Irvin of Grantsville, Md.; Silas, at home; Joseph, Elroy and Arvis of Listonsburg, Pa.; Mrs. Oma Resh of Jennings, Md.; Mrs. Lettie Durst of Grantsville, Md., and Mrs. Elsie Butler of Salisbury, Pa. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Jason Wilburn, of Grantsville, Md. Her funeral was held at a country school house several miles southwest of Grantsville, at 10 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 17th. The service was conducted by Rev. J. E. Walls, a minister of the Church of the Brethren, of which Mrs. Platter was a member. The burial arrangement was in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas, with interment in the Durst Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, November 28, 1940
