He was the son of the late Henry and Rachel (Bittinger) Platter and was born at Bittinger. Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Victor Miner, Mrs. John Ohler, Mrs. Frank Rodaheaver, and Mrs. Carrie Lowery, all of Jennings; four sons, Austin and Fenton, Grantsville; Everett, Jennings; and Foster, of Massena, N.Y.; two brothers, Thomas of Meyersdale, and Jacob of Jennings; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilt, Westernport, Md.; Mrs. Joseph Bittinger, Uniontown, Pa.; 21 grandchildren. One grandson is in the U.S. Army. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Jennings Lutheran Church. Rev. Foster Bittinger of Westernport, assisted by Ross Speicher of Accident, conducted the services. Interment in the cemetery in Bittinger. Meyersdale Republican, January 25, 1945
