Born March 3, 1924 in Rockwood, son of the late Ross and Bertha Ansell Pletcher. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a carpenter for Carpenters Union Local 1010 for 40 years. Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 702nd Tank Battalion with the 3rd Army during World War II. Member of Military Order of the Purple Heart and member of Springfield Township Volunteer Fire Department. Attended Mill Run United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Marie Pletcher, and three brothers: Earl, Hubert and Harold Pletcher. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Emma Lou (Firestone) Pletcher; three sons: Roger C. Pletcher of Connellsville; William R. Pletcher, Hunker RD 1, and Scott Pletcher, Ocean City, Md.; five grandchildren and one step grandson; also three brothers: Lester Pletcher of Normalville and Emerson and Lloyd Pletcher, both of Rockwood RD 3; two sisters: Mrs Dean (Evelyn) King, Markleton, and Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Horner of Fort Myers, Fla. Friends will be received at the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Madison Stringfellow officiating. Interment, Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery, Mill Run.
