Pletcher, 53, Somerset, died March 2, 2001 in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born Feb. 28, 1948 in Uniontown, a son of James Edward and Patricia Ruth (Porter) Pletcher of Somerset. Preceded in death by his grandparents, John Donald and Lulu (Gallentine) Porter and Clarence B. and Ruth Pletcher. Survived by his parents; wife of 20 years, Susan Marie (Henderson) Pletcher; brother, James Edward Pletcher Jr., and wife Judy of Uniontown; great-aunt, Edna Hesson of Owensdale; a special maternal aunt, Janet Banks of Uniontown; cousin, Rod Banks of Uniontown; and numerous aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was office manager and trouble shooter for Reckart Equipment Company, Somerset, which specializes in logging and sawmill equipment sales. His favorite hobby was his position of certified ski school instructor at Hidden Valley Ski Resort, Somerset, for the past 16 years. He was a loyal member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and bad a love for alpine skiing. He traveled with his wife to Europe and the western United States in pursuit of the avocation. John was a Scottdale High School graduate with the Class of 1966 and attended the Pittsburgh Art Institute for three years. He enjoyed his pet cats and possessed a vast knowledge of automobiles. John was a loving husband, son and brother to his family. Years ago he was affiliated with the Trinity United Methodist Church, Scottdale. Friends received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St., Scottdale. A personalilzed memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dale Craig facilitating. His final resting place will be on the slopes of the Hidden Valley Ski Resort where he enjoyed skiing with his wife and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the PSIA Fund or American Diabetes Foundation, c/o 105 Spring St., Scottdale, Pa., 15683 in his memory. Daily American, March 5, 2001 [P0700]
