He was born April 18, 1915, in Sculton, [sic] Somerset County, a son of the late Elmer and Cordie (Bungard) Pletcher. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Pletcher. Survived by wife of 68 years, Amanda King Pletcher; five children: Bob Pletcher and his wife, Gerri of Presto, Bill Pletcher and his wife Connie of Latrobe, Barry Pletcher and his wife Kay of Indian Head, Betty Pletcher of Indian head and Ben Pletcher and his wife Sally of Indian Head; 13 grandchildren: Jon, Jim, Don, Rip, Chip, Dan and Dave Pletcher, Suzie Kelley, Mat and Zac Pletcher, Carrie Hicks, Kris Ting and Jessica Pletcher; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Pletcher and his wife Ann of Plant City, Fla. and two sisters, Alice Gary of Nanty Glo and Patty Pritts and her husband Harold of Sculton. Mr. Pletcher was a graduate of Rockwood High School Class of 1933. He worked in construction for many years and he retired from Latrobe Steel. Early in his life he was in the timber business. He was also the former owner of K.F. Pletcher General Merchandise in Indian Head and former owner of the Valley Dairy Drive-in, which operated in the 1950s. Ken was a charter member of the Indian Creek Valley Lions Club and one of the founding members of Saltlick Township Volunteer Fire Department. Among his many hobbies, Ken greatly enjoyed flying and had his pilot's license. He was also a member of the Indian Head Church of God. Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rev.
