"Bud" Pletcher Jr., 64, of Park Avenue, Somerset, died Sept. 28, 1996, at Somerset Hospital. Born May 30, 1932, in Somerset. Son of the late Melvin E. and Marguerite (Sabin) Pletcher Sr. Preceded in death by son, Melvin E. Pletcher III. Survived by wife of 45 years, the former Jean Bittner; a daughter, Debbie Pletcher, Rockwood RD 1, and sister, Mrs. Wesley (Betty) King, Gladwin, Mich. Member of the First Christian Church, Somerset. Along with wife owned and operate Mel's Restaurant. Korean War veteran in the United States Army. Also was member of the former Somerset Company C. Member of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department and Pennsylvania Tavern Association. Friends were received Sunday and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. William Sleasman officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
