Pletcher, 45, 242 Peachbottom Road, RD 2, Willow Street, Pa. died Feb. 9, 1977 at the Veteran's Hospital in Lancaster, Pa. He had been a patient there since October 1975. He was born in Kingwood, the son of the late Lester Conn and Leora K. Christ of Lancaster, Pa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict with the rank of corporal. He was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lancaster. He was last employed by the Maislian Transport Company, Mt. Joy, Pa. He was a member of the Willow Street Fire Company and the American Legion Garden Spot Post 56, Lititz, Pa. He is survived by his wife Arlene, mother, Leora, two sons, Merle R. Jr., and Marc R., both at home, and his maternal grandmother, Edna Pletcher, of Willow Street, Pa. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Friday at the Robert J. Dano Funeral Home, 121 South Prince Street, Lancaster, Pa. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment St. Mary Catholic, Cemetery.
