Pletcher, 98, formerly of Rockwood, passed on May 9, 2005, at The Patriot in Somerset. Born Oct. 11, 1906, in Rockwood, she is the daughter of the late John and Sara A. Pyle. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ray Pletcher. She is survived by her sister, Elfreda Wetmiller, who is 100 years old and lives in Berlin; niece Hilda Rohlf, Brimfield, Ohio, and many friends and fellow church members who knew and loved Vera greatly. She lived and went to school in Rockwood where she played basketball and later coached the team. She graduated from California St. Teachers' College with a degree in education. Vera returned to Rockwood to teach in a one room school house in Casselman and later in Rockwood. She was an active member of the missionary committee and the governing board. She reached her world with the Good News of Jesus Christ by the way she spoke and lived her life. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rockwood Alliance Church with a service to follow.
