Pluta, 69, of Friedens, formerly of Stoystown, died Sept. 4, 1999, at the home of his son Andrew. He was born Nov. 11, 1929, in Ralphton, a son of John and Mary (Csarak) Pluta. Preceded in death by parents and brother Joseph. Survived by wife of 43 years, the former Florence Baker, and these children: Deborah A. Notestine of Bedford; M. Jane, married to Zane Staily, of Martinsburg; Andrew J., married to the former Paula Croyle, of Stoystown; and James E. of Somerset; grandchildren Michelle Notestine, Christy and Kevin Staily and Steven and Marissa Pluta. Brother of Louis of Stoystown, John of Hollywood, Fla., and Donna Meyers of Hollsopple. He is a Korean War Army veteran. Former co-owner of A-1 Auto Wreckers of Stoystown and a retired maintenance worker at Georgian Place Outlets. Member of Jenner Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid bowler. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where a service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Pastor Mark DeSilva.
