Born Jan. 20, 1913 in New York City, N.Y., son of Egidio and Virginia (Bergonzi) Poggi. Preceded in death by parents, and brother, Joseph Poggi. Survived by wife the former Olga Callegari to whom he was married 58 years; children: Dr. Alfred J. Poggi Jr., married to the former Elizabeth Ann Seibert of Somerset; Richard R. Poggi, married to the former Judith Cardinali of Yonkers, N.Y.; grandchildren Michelle A. Poggi of Bryn Mawr; Michael L. Poggi of Pittsburgh; Christopher S. Poggi of Villanova; Stephanie Poggi of Yonkers, N.Y.; and Steven Poggi of Yonkers, N.Y. Member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, president of 55 and Over Speeders, board member of Laurel Arts. Retired in 1975 as terminal foreman for New York Central Railroad after 46 years of service. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m., Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli celebrant. Wake service at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
