"Oggie" Polefrone, 72, of Garrett, died Dec. 24, 1989, Sacred Heart Hosptial, Cumberland. Born March 23, 1917, in Garrett, son of late Bruno and Carmella (Taccino) Polefrone. Also preceded in death by first wife, the former Pauline Baer, and a brother, Ralph. Survived by second wife, the former Lois Layton, and these stepchildren: Merrill Layton, Hagerstown, Md.; Sandra Chirdon and Peggy Preston, both of Cumberland; step-grandson, Christopher. Brother of Josephine Piccadio and Genevieve Polefrone, both of Somerset. Life member of Garrett Volunteer Fire Department. Member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 1951, Political (Hack) Club, Salisbury American Legion Home Aid Association. Graduate of MHS, Class of 1937. Former mayor of Garrett. Former owner of Clover Farm grocery store in Garrett. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Pastor Carl Mitchell officiating.
