Poleman, logger and veteran of World War I, died at his home on Tuesday, July 1, of a heart attack, at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 20 days. He was born in Garrett County, Md., on April 11, 1893, and resided all his life near where he was born. He was a son of Charles H. and the late Annie (Glotfelty) Poleman. He was married on June 15, 1921, to Ica Durst. In World War I, he served with Co. C, 311th Machine Gun Battalion, and was overseas about a year. He was a charter member of Earl H. Opel Post of the American Legion, but was not active in it in recent years. In addition to his wife and his father, he is survived by two brothers, Ira H. and Lawrence E. Poleman, all of Route 1, Salisbury. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, along the National Highway, at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd, with Rev. George E. Bowersox, Jr., pastor of the Salisbury Lutheran Church, officiating. Military rites were conducted by members of Earl H. Opel Post. Interment in the church cemetery in charge of William Winterberg, Grantsville mortician. Meyersdale Republican, July 10, 1947
