    Norma E. Polentes, 79, 525 Woodside Ave., Cumberland, Md., formerly
  of Johnstown, died July 31, 1987, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
    She was born Jan. 1, 1908, in Johnstown, daughter of the late
  Charles H. and Emma (Schmerer) Opperman.
    She was preceded in death by husband, Louis D. Polentes.
    She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ann Hastie, Cumberland,
  Md.; also grandchildren: Richard T. Hastie, Mount Savage, Md.; Miss
  Gina M. Hastie, Cumberland Md.; and Mrs. Lori A. Wolfe, Cumberland,
  Md.; and one great-grandchild.  She was a sister of: Louis Opperman,
  Meyersdale; Clarence Opperman, Johnstown; and Mrs. Emma Sharretts,
  Johnstown.
    She was a member of Lutheran Church Women of Christ Lutheran
  Church, LaVale, Md.
    Friends were received at Scarpelli Funeral Home.
    Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Zion Lutheran Church,
  Johnstown, with the REv. Donald L. Burggraf of Christ Lutheran
  Church, LaVale, of which Mrs. Polentes was a member and the Rev.
  Robert G. Kaltenbaugh of Zion Lutheran Church, Johnstown
  officiating.  Interment, Johnstown.
