Thomas, Beachly Street, at approximately 11 o'clock. Mr. Poling was the son of Nathan and Elizabeth (Wilty) Poling, and was born at Ada, Ohio, October 30, 1870, and at the time of his death was aged 69 years, 8 months and 12 days. He located in Meyersdale 38 years ago, and had since resided here. Having been a graduate pharmacist, for many years he was in the employ of his brother- in-law, the late Frank B. Thomas, who was one of Meyersdale's leading druggists, until his death, when the business was taken over by his two sons, Frank and Joseph. For a short time, Mr. Poling went to Ada, Ohio, but soon returned to Meyersdale to resume his work as assistant Pharmacist and clerk for the Thomas brothers, where he continued until the day of his death. Mr. Poling was active in civic work, having served as tax collector for one term, and at the time of his death he was a member of the board of the borough auditors, and judge of election in precinct No. 2 on the South Side. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Second National Bank, and had attended a meeting of that body just a few hours prior to his death, which was due to a heart condition. The only surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Frank B. Thomas, Beachly Street, with whom Mr. Poling had lived since locating here, and Mrs. Anna Gill, of Ada, Ohio. Mr. Poling had many warm friends in Meyersdale, who were shocked and deeply grieved at his sudden passing. Funeral services were conducted at the Thomas home Monday afternoon at 3:30, the Rev. H. Carl Buterbaugh, of the Methodist Church, and the Rev. DeWitt L. Miler, of the Church of the Brethren, officiating. The burial arrangements were in charge of W. C. Price & Son, Meyersdale morticians, with interment in Union Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, July 18, 1940
