Born September 12, 1919 in Somerset, a daughter of James Lawrence and Emma (Miller) Poorbaugh. Also proceded in death by her parents and brother: Forrest E. Poorbaugh. She is survived by nieces: Mrs. Franklin C. (Bettyjo) Bittner of Berlin; and Mrs. William (Patricia L.) Barron of Corinth, TX; great niece: Mrs. Todd (Kelly J) Zerfoss of Cape Coral, FL; great nephew: James M. Barron and wife, Ann of Plano, TX; and great great nephew: Zachary. She was a 1937 graduate of Somerset High School; 1941 graduate with a BS from Susquehanna University; 1951 graduate with an MS from West Virginia University. She had worked as a high school teacher for Laurel Highlands School in Uniontown until her retirement in 1982 with 42 years of service. She was also a member of OES#138 Trinity Chapter, PASR PA Assoc. of School Retirees, Margaret and Caven Shrine #42 in Uniontown, Order of Amaranth #1 and Oriental Shrine #1 both in Morgantown, WV. Friends were received at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset where services were conducted, May 27, 2006, with the Reverend Charles Olsen officiating. Interment was held at Husband Cemetery.
