All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ MARY POORBAUGH Mrs. Mary (Berkey) Poorbaugh, native of Somerset County and a resident of Johnstown for many years, died last Saturday of a heart attack at her home in Roswell, N.M. She was a daughter of Harriet and Samuel Berkey, both deceased. Her husband, Harvey A. Poorbaugh, eldest son of the late Bruce Poorbaugh of Northampton Twp., was a former employee of the Johnstown Democrat and is now partner in one of the most prosperous commercial printing offices in the State of New Mexico. Before her marriage, Mrs. Poorbaugh was a teacher in the Stoystown schools. Surviving are her husband and four children - Harriet Ellen, John, Bruce and Fred. The latter recently returned from duty with the Army in China. A daughter died in infancy. One brother, Hallet, died in Johnstown in July, 1939 and twin brothers died in infancy. A niece, Mary Jane (Berkey) Mellon, resides in Johnstown. The senior editor of The Republican had the pleasure of being entertained in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Poorbaugh on his last Western trip.
