Poorbaugh Jr., 93, Hyndman, died Saturday, February 17, 1990, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born December 20, 1896, in Glencoe, he was the son of the late N. Bruce Poorbaugh Sr. and Ellen (Gladwell) Poorbaugh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Avalene M. (Hite) Poorbaugh, June 16, 1986, and by three sisters and six brothers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was retired from the B&O Railroad in 1962 as a track foreman. He was the former owner and operator of Poorbaugh's Grocery Store and was a former employee of the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Following retirement, he worked as a security guard at the Miracle Mart, LaVale, Md.; Jamesway Store, Somerset; Ames Department Store, Connellsville; and Hills Department Store, Uniontown. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Telma P. Gilmour and Mrs. Betty L. Stuby, both of Hyndman; five granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, where services were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Joseph R. Stains and the Rev. Harry E. Hull. Interment, Hyndman Cemetery.
