Born December 1, 1951, in Uniontown, she was a daughter of Chester and Shirley (LaClair) McFarland, Grantsville. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Chester McFarland; her maternal grandparents, Porter and Oma LaClair; and her paternal grandparents, Carl and Elizabeth McFarland. Mrs. Pope was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, West Salisbury. At age 10, she became involved with the family business, Hill Top Fruit Market, Grantsville, and has been actively involved all her life. She will be greatly missed by employees and patrons alike. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband David Pope; one daughter, Sherry Regina Pope-Combs and husband Joe, Frostburg, Md.; two brothers: Kenneth McFarland and wife Denise, Grantsville; James McFarland and wife Melanie, Frostburg; eight sisters: Ambra Dolan and husband Robert; Linda Carr and husband Gregg, Avilton, Md.; Terri Wiley and husband Chuck; Sandi Carey and husband Darin, Frostburg; Peggy Kamp and husband Mervin; Mary Paul and husband Dalton, Grantsville; 37 nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Sunday and Monday. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Albert J. Anselmi officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A Christian Wake service was held on Friday. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Michael's Altar Society.
