Popernack, 62, of Greensburg RD 7, formerly of Somerset, died Thursday at Latrobe Area Hospital. Born March 20, 1928, in Bobtown in Greene County, son of Mary A. (Dorko) Popernack of Somerset and the late John Popernack. Member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Marguerite, American Legion Post 461, and VFW 554, Somerset. Veteran of WW II. In addition to father, preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Ann Popernack; one brother, George Popernack, who died during WW II; two sisters: Mary Jane Popernack and Margaret Ann Everett. Survived by wife, Helen (Lustick) Popernack; two sons: John III, and Theodore, both of Boswell; four daughters: Mrs. Orlo (Bonnie) Pletcher of Rockwood, Mrs. Robert (Robbie) Eller of Acosta, Cheryl Popernack of Boswell, Mrs. Joseph (Georgiann) Blazin, Somerset; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Joseph (Judy) Hallis, N.J.; Pete Ulishney, Ocean City, N.J., and Thomas and Mark Ulishney, both of Greensburg; two sisters: Betty Bollinger, Augusta, Ga., and Mrs. James (Anna Marie) Sowerbrower, Jennerstown; two brothers: Theodore Popernack of Friedens, Edward Popernack, Somerset. Also 22 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the James P. Gaut Funeral Home Inc. Pleasant Unity from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
