George Popovich Jr., Palm Harbor, Fla., died July 6, 2004, at Mease Hospital Countryside. Born in Windber, he moved to this area in 1980 from Parma, Ohio, where he and his wife Anne had lived for 23 years. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Anne. Survived by his daughter GeorgeAnn Goellner and son-in-law Ted Goellner of La Quinta, Calif. Sisters Marie Wilson, Corunna, Mich., and Agnes Cardone, Palmdale, Calif., brother John Popovich, Honolulu, Hawaii; and grandson Mark Goellner of Englewood, N.J. George was retired from the J&L Steel Company in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Palm Harbor, and served as a captain in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He has been a member of the Highland Lakes Golf club for 24 years. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Moss Feaster Funeral Home Palm Harbor chapel, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Luke Catholic Church Palm Harbor. 07/08/2004 Daily American
