Walter Porter, 69, husband of B. Jeannette (Jean) Harkins Porter, of Reisterstown and Accident, Md., died Feb. 16, following a lengthy illness. He was president of the Rose Exterminator Co. of Baltimore, Md., and tenor soloist of Mt. Vernon Place Methodist Church for many years, where he also was a member. Born at Grantsville, Md., he was a son of the late J. Emory and Susan (Sweadner) Porter. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Janice P. Olsen of Medford, Oregon; three sons, Daniel W. Porter, Altadena, Calif.; Charles W. Porter, Glyndon, Md.; James C. Porter, Reisterstown, Md.; nine grandchildren, and three brothers, J. Carl Porter, Reisterstown, Md.; W. Edgar Porter, Salisbury, Md.; and J. Emory Porter, Baltimore, Md. Funeral service was held Feb. 19 at the Mitchell-Wiederfeld Home, Baltimore, Md., with Pastor Kenneth Westby officiating. Interment was in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Pikesville, Md. The pallbearers were nephews, William E. Porter, Robert W. Porter, William F. Holloway, Robert F. Porter, James P. Shaughness and William T. Watson. Meyersdale Republican, March 1, 1973 [P0834]
