Porter, 48, Wellersburg, died May 12, 1983 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was born in Corriganville, Md., on May 18, 1934 the son of John E. Porter, Barrelville, and the late Bessie Mae (Wright) Porter. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church, Corriganville. Besides his father, he is survived by his widow, Martha Ann (Martin) Porter; three daughters, Gloria Porter, Hyndman RD; Shirley Riggleman, Cumberland, Maryland; Martha Strawderman, Lost City, W.Va. Also surviving are eight brothers, Jerry Porter and Glenn Porter, both of Cumberland; John Porter Jr., Cresaptown, Md.; Elmer Porter, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; Kenneth Porter, Wellersburg; Harry Porter, Corriganville, Md.; Ronald Porter, Mt. Savage, Md., and Robert Porter, Berlin; three sisters, Mary Wiese, Baltimore, Md.; Nancy Scell, Transfer; Patty Porter, Taneytown, Md.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Zeigler Funeral Home where services were conducted by the Rev. John W. Gordon. Interment was in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. The Republic, May 19, 1983 [P0839]
