Porter, 79, Barrelville, died Friday, January 25, 1985, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland. Born in Mount Savage, Maryland, he was a son of the late Harry Porter and Mary (Kendall) Porter Glass. He was a retired coal miner. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annabell Porter; eight sons, John Porter Jr., Cresaptown, Maryland; Elmer Porter, Short Gap, W.Va.; Bobby Porter, Berlin; Kenneth Porter, Wellersburg; Ronald Porter, Mount Savage, Md.; Frederick Porter, Corriganville, Md.; Jerry Porter and Glenn Porter, both of Cumberland, Md. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mary Weese, Dundalk, Md.; Mrs. Nancy Scell, Wellersburg; Miss Patsy Porter, Taneytown, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Viola Teeter, Mount Savage, Md.; one brother, the Rev. Elmer A. Porter, Corriganville, Md.; four stepsons, 59 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary. Services were held Monday at 2 p.m., in the Apostolic Faith in Jesus Christ Church, Corriganville by the Rev. Lloyd C. Garlitz. Interment, Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were George Porter, Roy Stultz Jr., Jim Moore, Wayne Loar, Mark Barry and Ronnie Lepley. The Republic, January 31, 1985 [P0840]
