   Joyce "Sis" Porterfield, 57, Confluence, died Nov. 3, 2007, at her home. Born Aug. 16,
  1950, in Confluence, a daughter of Charles F. and Oretta Christena (Rugg) Nicholson.
  Preceded in death by parents, brother, Gabriel Nicholson and sisters, Leesta "Bruce"
  Lichty, Elva Hoover and Vilda Holliday. Survived by daughters, Joyce Ranae Porterfield,
  Confluence; Jamie Howatineck, Rockwood; adopted daughter, Jennifer Ruth Porterfield, New
  Jersey; foster sons, Robert Ward, Windber and Chad Shawley, Somerset; three
  grandchildren, Shania Elizabeth Porterfield, Chelsie Marie and Cordel Stone Howatineck;
  brothers, Alvin Nicholson, Roger Nicholson, Reese Nicholson and Darwin Kemp, all of
  Confluence; Rampsey Nicholson, North Carolina; and sisters, Norma Snyder, Taneytown, Md.
  and Alcinda Shaffer, Apollo. There will be no viewing. Friends and family are invited to
  a gathering from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Community Church of God, Ursina,
  where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dean Hay Jr. officiating. Family
  suggests memorial contributions in care of the family, 596 Coon Hollow Road, Confluence,
