  Dr. Edson Boyd Powell, 71, 334 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, died Dec.
  19, 1984, at Chambersburg Hospital.  Born May 12, 1913, in
  Hooversville, son of the late Howard and Annie Elizabeth (Wingard)
  Powell.  Survived by wife, former Mildred Aileen McCarty; four
  daughters, Mrs. Ray Nichols, Falston, Md.; Mrs. Raoul Anavitarte,
  Etters, Pa.; Mrs. Denise Callahan, York; and Venessa Powell,
  Pittsburgh; five grandchildren; brother, Jennings Powell, Somerset;
  and sister, Mrs. Evelyn Stewart, Jennerstown.  Member of Park Avenue
  United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.  Private service at 2 p.m.
  Saturday from Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg, the Rev.
  Ronald S. McElwee officiating.  Interment, Norland Cemetery,
  Chambersburg.  There will be no viewing or visitation.  Memorial
  contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society, Franklin County
  Unit, or American Heart Association, South Central Pa. Chapter, both
  at 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, or Chambersburg Hospital, 112 N.
