Pugh, 79, Berlin, died Dec. 19, 1984, at Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born Feb. 19, 1905, in Somerset, a son of Ross and Edith (Ringler) Pugh. Preceded in death by parents and his wife, the former Maude S. Sutton, who died in 1970. Survived by a son, James L., Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Brown, Berlin; granddaughters, Jennifer Pugh and Janet Pugh, both of Nashville, Tenn.; and Rebecca Brown, Berlin. Also survived by a sister, Mrs. John G. Miller, Berlin. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, past president and member of Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, Somerset Lodge No. 358 F&AM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, and Berlin Lodge No. 461 I.O.O.F. He was a former teacher and principal of Berlin-Brothersvalley Schools and also served as mayor of Berlin. He formerly owned the E.W. Pugh Insurance Agency, Berlin. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Carl W. Schwarm officiating.
