Putman, 58, of North Rosina Avenue, Somerset, died Aug. 2, 1988, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born July 4, 1930, in Acosta, a son of the late John and Iva Myrtle (Lape) Putman. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Ray, and sisters: Verda, Hazel, Florence, Mabel O'Hartz, Dolly Dice. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen M. Brown; two daughters: Deborah, married to Barry Baker, and Brenda J. Mostoller, both of Somerset; and a son, Ronald, married to the the former Michelle Keefer, Somerset; 7 grandchildren; and these sisters: Jean Robison, June Hay, Evelyn Nedrow, Maude Eller and Effie Mandziara, all of Somerset RD 7; and Stella Fisher, Somerset RD 5. He was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Force, Korean Conflict. Retired borough policeman with 18 years of service. Member of VFW Post 554, American Legion Post 181, and F.O.E. Aerie 1801, all of Somerset. He was serving as a correctional officer at the Somerset County Jail. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m., the Rev. James R. Ling officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Daily American, August 3, 1988 [P1119]
