Putman, 77, Boswell RD 3 died unexpectedly Jan. 30, 1987, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Nov. 22, 1909, in Markleton, son of John and Iva Myrtle (Lape) Putman. Preceded in death by parents, five sisters, one brother and two grandsons. Survived by widow, the former Ruth Fisher; and these daughters: Florence, wife of Everett Mullen, Hollsopple RD 1; Marlene, wife of Shaffer Colson, Virginia Beach, Va.; Shirley, wife of Charles Lowell Williams, Boswell RD 1; Kay Butler, Knotts Island, N.C.; Connie Tallentire, Boswell RD 1; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Brother of: Effie Mandziara, Evelyn Nedrow, June Hay, Lois Jean Robison, Maude Eller, Albert, all of Somerset; and Stella Fisher, Sipesville. Member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Lavansville; Altoona Chapter 34 DAV; Somerset Post 181 American Legion; Somerset Post 554 VFW; Jenner Rod and Gun Glub and Laurel Ridge Sportsman's Association. Navy veteran of World War II. Observed 57th wedding anniversary Dec. 30, 1986. Retired employee of former Consolidated Coal Company and Jenner Township. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Saturday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Joseph M. Beer.
