Virginia Pyle, 93, of Friedens died Jan. 26, 2001 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. Born March 28, 1907 in Westfield, Pa., she is the daughter of the late Courtney and Mae (Swimeley) Howland. Also preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Pyle; sisters: Laura Burrell, Eunice Bruce, and an infant sister; brothers: John, Fay, Lawrence, Eddy and Thural Howland. Survived by several nieces and nephews and close friends, the Ray and Mae Jean Kimmel family. She was a clerk for the former McCrory's Store in Somerset and self-employed seamstress. Member of the First Christian Church and Geiger Senior Citizens. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Daniel Nicksich officiating. Interment in the Somerset County Memorial Park.
