Pyle, 91, Berlin, died March 27, 2005, at Somerset Hospital. Born March 21, 1914, in Somerset Township, he is the son of Calvin H. and Susan J. (Ferguson) Pyle. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, the former Helen Hummel; sisters, Maudie, Lydia Hoyle, Mayme Menser, Elda Fisher and Pauline Gross; brothers, Leonard, Harvey, Wilbur, Hamilton, Jerry and Benjamin Pyle. Survived by a son Calvin G. Pyle, married to the former Barbara Hittie; grandsons, Matthew and Nathan Pyle, all of Berlin; a sisters, June Schrock, Rockwood; nephew, Ben Pyle, with whom he resided and other numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Jerry and Ida Hostetler, Raineytown. He was a retired kiln operator for the Crane Corp. of Somerset. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Somerset. An Army veteran of World War II and member of American Legion Post 181, Somerset, and the Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and bird watching. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Patricia M. Nelson officiating.
