For many years he was prominent in Somerset County and Pittsburgh music circles, having received recognition for his talent as a pianist and for his contributions as a composer. While it was generally known that Mr. Pyle had been suffering ill health the past year or more, his death came as a severe shock to a host of friends. Clark Ernest Pyle was a son of Cyrus M. Pyle and the late Catherine Snyder Pyle and was in his 48th year. His mother passed away eleven years ago. In early life Clark Ernest, as he was familiarly known to his many friends, taught school in Middlecreek Township and pursued the study of music. Following World War I, of which he was a veteran he again took up his studies and graduated from the Mt. Pleasant Institute of Music. Later he enrolled at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and specialized in the pipe organ. For many years Mr. Pyle conducted a studio in his Main Street home where he instructed students in piano, organ and voice. He has been organist at the Rockwood Lutheran Church for a number of years until ill health forced him to retire. His natural talent for music was recognized by all who knew him. He is survived only by his father mentioned above. A sister, Mrs. Carrie Whipkey, preceded him to the grave. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock in St. Luke's Lutheran Church where the body lay in state from 1:00 to 3 o'clock. The services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. H. G. Hohman. Interment was made in the New Centerville Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, April 1, 1943
