Born Jan. 13, 1932 in Lincoln Township, Somerset County. Son of the late Elmer Harrison and Carrie Ellen (Gahring) Pyle. Also preceded in death by brother, Franklin W. Pyle and 4 sisters: Hazel Lape, Shirley Tibbs, Wilma Pyle and Ethel Pyle. Survived by wife, the former Sally Ann Sleasman; children, Mrs. John A. (Sindy) Flick, Berlin RD 3; David J. Pyle, married to Carol Donaldson, Somerset; Ms. Susan Leigh Rock, Somerset RD 6; Mrs. Mark J. (Stacey) Myers, Somerset, Rd 6; Daniel J. Pyle, married to Autumn Miller, Somerset Rd 6; 12 grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. Paul (Louella) Friedline, Clearwater, Fla.; and Ray W. Pyle, Palm Harbor, Fla.; Employed as a rural letter carrier and owner of Jay Pyle Lumber and Trucking Co. U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was heart muscle wrap research patient No. 12 in the U.S. at Allegheny General Hospital. Member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Lavansville; Somerset Lodge 358, F&AM; Jaffa Shrine; Altoona Consistory, Odd Fellows, and New Centerville and Rural Volunteer Fire Company. President of Somerset Chapter 1861, National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Was 1993 King of Farmers and Treshermen's Jubilee. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. William G. Triebe officiating. Interment, Bakerville Cemetery. The New Centerville Fire Company will have a memorial service at 8 p.m. Monday.
