Pyle, 87, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Rockwood, died Dec. 19, 1983, in the St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born March 1, 1896, in Black Township, a son of William W. and Margaret (Pyle) Pyle. He is survived by one son, Homer, Pittsburgh; one daughter, Mrs. Vivian Zorn, Collbran, Col.; two brothers: Theodore, Pittsburgh; and Virgil, Somerset; two sisters: Mrs. Nell Critchfield and Mrs. Nora Ream, both of Somerset; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys E. Pyle, in 1974; also by a son, Richard W., in 1942. He was a member of the Rockwood American Legion Post 279 for 50 years, a veteran of World War I, a member of the Junior Order United Auto Mechanics, a member of the Rockwood United Methodist Church. He was a retired trackman from the B&O Railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Lodge 1556. Friends were received in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 1:30 p.m., with his pastor, the Rev. Donald Krestar officiating.
