Queer, 82, Somerset, died Sept. 12, 2005, at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born Jan. 7, 1923, in Somerset, he is the son of the late Robert J. and Melda M. (Menser) Queer. Also preceded in death by a sister Lona Mae Dickey. Survived by his wife, Ruth E. (Baker) Queer; daughter, Mrs. Gregory P. (Linda) Shaffer, Somerset; stepdaughter, Mrs. Vernon (Elaine) Spangler, Somerset; grandson Jeff Shaffer; step granddaughter, LuAnn; a sister, Mrs. Ross (Winifred) Walker, Somerset; and several nieces and nephews. Member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, lifetime member of VFW Post 554 and the D.A.V. A 1942 graduate of Somerset High School and was employed as a routeman for H.W. Walker Co. for 14 years, Menzie Dairy for 20 years and Galliker Dairy from where he retired after 11 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 82nd Combat Engineers where he served two years overseas in North Africa, England and Germany, including the Battle of the Bulge. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Dennis Doebler officiating. Interment in Casebeer Cemetery.
