Queer, 84, of New Centerville passed on May 7, 2002 at Easy Living Estates in Somerset. Born Sept. 14, 1917 in Berlin. Son of the late Harrison and Grace (Saylor) Queer. Preceded in death by brothers Harrison Queer Jr. and Jackie Queer; sisters, Betty Will, Kathryn Nelson, and Peggy Queer; and son-in-law Albert Wilson Maurer Jr. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Catherine (Reese) Queer, son Richard, married to Rebecca (Laus) Queer of New Centerville, and daughter Donna Maurer of Friedens. Also grandchildren, Shanda Pletcher, Talesa Queer, Fenna Queer, John Maurer, Sandra Duppstadt, and Patsy Maurer; and great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Grant Pletcher, Sammy Duppstadt, and Eric Lepley. He was a member of the Middlecreek Church of the Brethren. He was also a member of the United Mine Workers Union Local 2200, and the Roxbury and Laurel Ridge Sportsmen's Clubs. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Revs. Nancy Good and Ralph Landis officiating.
