Railey, 54, of 170 Washington Street, Frostburg, Md., died May 6, 1983, in University of Maryland Hospital. He was born in Grantsville, Maryland, he was a son of the late John M. Halley and Effie F. (Warnick) Railey. He was employed at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company plant, was a member of St. Michael's Church, an Army veteran, member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, Woodmen of the World, and the National Rifle Association, and Local 26 Retirement Club. He is survived by his widow, Shirley (Engle) Halley, a son, Dwight R. Railey, at home, a daughter, Mrs. Lucinda Preston, Frostburg, a sister, Mrs. Alice D. Durst, Magadore, Ohio; two brothers, Milton W. Railey, Kingsville; Forrest W. Railey, Avilton, and two grandchildren. Friends were received at Sowers Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park. American Legion Post 214 held military graveside rites. Pallbearers were Homer Durst, Carl Durst, Kevin Railey, Edward Railey, Richard Halley, and Joseph Railey, all nephews. The Republic, May 12, 1983 [R022] NOTE: mother's obit listed as RALEY.
